Yesterday I found myself working an internship fair for my career service job. I was talking to the different employers and such, and struck up a conversation with a man who worked for Watt Publishing. We started talking about their different publications and I was talking about how I'm in law and about how I'm interested in Animal Law. As we begun to talk he struck up a possible idea to hire me to write a blog for them. Mind you, at this point he does not know that I have a blog at all, knows nothing of my GPA, and nothing of my writing abilities. This is the example of what I try to impress on students all the time, its all about your impression on the person and your ability to network. I didn't go out there thinking I was going to get anything, I just had an excited conversation on a subject that I'm interested in with someone who is in the business of the same.
I guess we'll see what happens when he contacts me. Can you imagine though, me being a real "serious" blogger? Someone paying me for my personal opinion on whats going on in the Animal Law world???
