Poor putty-tat!

Barrister had a rough go at it this past week or so. He got pounced on many times by River the dog (who weights easily three times what Barrister does). He landed himself in sever shock and in the emergency clinic for two days.

He's finally springing back. But boy was I scared. He looked completely dead by the time I got home and had no strength what so ever. I just hope he never has anything like that ever happen to him ever again.

OMG

so... did you know that when cats get scared, some of them use their anal glad "stuff" as a defense? Yea, cuz' they do... and it smells BAD. BLAH!!! Not what I wanted to have to smell and deal with at 2am today. I'm going to see if I can get around bathing the cat though, I think the cats been through enough recently.

Below are the barns in the area that I visited this weekend with my Mom. We were looking for a place to keep baby Z once is is ready for some riding lessons. In different areas that we are familiar with that are barns have the boarding prices that follow:
Temple Farms: $680/month
Indian Hills Farm: $450/month (no turnout)
Lamplight: $500/month

Tom and Ryan's old barn: $450/month (have not gone to see lately).. they say if there is a three person lesson, can't use the ring. Barn closed Monday. Stalls cleaned 6 days a week. This looks like an eventing barn now.

Versailles Equestrian

This is Versailles Equestrian. Its located slightly off of Rt. 38 in Virgil. The stalls are 12x12, they all have windows, heated waterers and turn out 7 days a week. The horses are fed 3x, with whatever suppliments included. The outdoor arena is 100x200 and the riding lot with trails is 1/2 mile long. The indoor is large and ventilated with windows. The sand arena is drug at least once a day for good footing. The barn is open from 6am-10pm. The board is $525 a month.

Karousel Farm

This is Karousel Farm. it is located off of Rt. 47 in Maple park. The stalls are adjoined each to their own outdoor area. The indoor is larger than a standard dressage arena. The turnout covers all ten acres and there are a few that are limestone that are always avaliable. The owner is a dressage rider who has raised many young horses and lives on the farm. The board is $500 a month.

Stonebridge Farm

This is Stonebridge Farm. The stalls had no consistent size, and were all very dirty with no shavings. The barn was very dark with low ceilings. There is a 60x120 indoor arena that I did not get a chance to more then peer at because the owner very rudely told me to leave and to make an appointment (I had called and left a message for an appointment a week and a half prior, she said they had been busy). The board here is $450. (no video)

Dassenbrook

This is Dassenbrook. Its located off of Rt. 38 in Maple Park. The indoor is 80x200 and since this is a jumper barn, the jumps are always set up in the ring in a course form. The stalls are recorded as 10x12, but they look slightly smaller. The horses are fed three times a day. The board is $490 a month.
